I would like nothing better than to rest!!

I like nothing better than to get up early in the morning before anyone else. The air is fresh and cool, the coffee smells good and there is no-one around to disturb me. I sometimes sit and let it flow over me and I relax before the hectic day begins. You notice things all around you, the colours in the sky and sounds of the birds and the suburb waking up.

Its at times like these that I long for the day when I can rest and not work. When I don’t have to think about how to do the million and one things that are on my plate that day. I don;t know how it has happened but life has got very complicated and busy. Maybe it was the many little decisions along the way that have filled up my life or maybe it is just that living in Sydney is ALWAYS busy. Either way it is not always that kind of life I long for and there are times when I do not have time simply to enjoy life and people that make it.

God is a worker but he is also one who rests and enjoys what he has created. We, as his people, are made to work and rest not just work. I must remember this! But there is a far better rest that God has promised - the rest of heaven when we can stop and enjoy Him and all he has created. That’s what I really look forward to.
